With more and more happening online these days, communities need a reliable, high-speed connection for school, work, fun stuff, like gaming, and just about everything. But living in the remote north of Ontario comes with its set of challenges. Some of them being connection, communication and the infrastructure associated.

Gov’t Releases $61 million to bring high-speed internet access to more homes in Northwestern Ontario

On March 1, 2023 the federal and provincial government announced funding of over $61 million to bring high-speed internet access to more than 16,000 homes in 47 rural Ontario communities and three First Nations communities in Northern Ontario. The funding will be for six projects by Bell Canada, the Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre and Keewaytinook Okimakanak.
