KNET Planned Network Maintenance and Service Disru KNET Planned Network Maintenance and Service Disruption

KNET will be completing planned network maintenance on Thursday, August 13, as part of an ongoing upgrade to KNET’s core network infrastructure in Toronto.
The maintenance will begin at approximately 7:00 a.m. Central Time and is expected to continue throughout the day. Customers in affected communities should expect a brief interruption to internet and network services while their connection is transferred. 

Communities and locations scheduled for Thursday’s maintenance include:
Constance Lake, Mattagami, Matachewan, Whitefish Lake, Little Current, Moosonee, Thessalon, Serpent River Administration, Serpent River Kenabutch Health, Temagami, Garden River, Montreal (BCN/KRG), Sioux Lookout, Sagamok HLC, Dryden, Balmertown, Thunder Bay sites, Whitedog, Saugeen, Mishkeegogamang, Sagamok School, Pic River, Wabigoon Lake and Weir, Quebec.

All other KNET served communities have been upgraded last year and should not experience interruptions.

KNET technicians will monitor and verify connectivity throughout the maintenance period.

📢 Telecommunication Outages Update – July 14, 📢 Telecommunication Outages Update – July 14, 2026 (6:00 PM CST)

KNet is currently responding to multiple telecommunications outages across the region caused by severe weather and ongoing wildfire activity. Our technical teams are actively working with partners to restore services as quickly and safely as possible.

Current Service Status:

🔴 North Spirit Lake
Multiple thunderstorms have caused power issues affecting the community's telecommunications facilities. terrestial broadband, landline, and cellular services are currently offline.

🟠 Wunnumin Lake
Terrestial Broadband and landline services have been offline since July 13. Cellular service remains available through satellite backup.

🟠 Kingfisher Lake
Terrestial Broadband and landline services went offline on July 14. Cellular service remains available through satellite backup.

🔴 Mishkeegogamang
Terrestial Broadband and cellular services are currently offline. The outage has been linked to the ongoing forest fire between Savant Lake and Mishkeegogamang along Highway 599.

🔴 Cat Lake
Terrestial Broadband, landline, and cellular services are currently offline. The outage is the result of a forest fire that caused a community-wide power outage.

🟡 Slate Falls
Terrestial Broadband is offline. Power remains available, and cellular service continues to operate through satellite backup.

General Update – 6:00 PM CST

Widespread power outages affecting multiple communities have resulted in several telecommunications systems going offline. Restoration efforts are underway where conditions allow, and we will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
